Before half term I sent an email regarding wearing purple to honour the young people that have taken their own lives due to homophobic bullying. Attached is a poster from the charity Stonewall who work with schools to help young people who have received any form of homophobic abuse. I think if we all have this poster in our rooms it will show that as teachers we will not stand for it, and they should feel safe.

Some food for thought!
I have come to the frightening
conclusion that I am the decisive
element………
It’s my personal approach that creates the
climate. It’s my daily mood that makes
the weather. As a teacher, I possess
tremendous power to make a child’s life
miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an
instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate
or humour, hurt or heal. In all situations,
it is my response that decides whether
a crisis will be escalated or de-
escalated and a child humanised or de-
humanised.
